Google Calendar Notifications in Gmail

Google recently discontinued SMS notifications from Google Calendar in favour of push notifications from the Google Calendar app on your smartphone.  You can, however, still choose to receive notifications via Gmail.  To configure notifications of events that you have been invited to, that have changed or have been cancelled you need to enable them.  Here's how...
  1. Navigate to Google Calendar and click on the small arrow to the right of your primary calendar (typically at the top of the My calendars list and identified by your name)
  2. Click Edit notifications
  3. Under the section Choose how you would like to be kept up-to-date: it is recommended that you check all boxes under the Email column
  4. Click Save at the top of the page and then click Back to calendar
